Kingwood Observer and Spring Observer - Local Woman Writes Book filled with Money-Making Ideas
A Spring author offers people a chance to stop living paycheck to paycheck and take control of their income amid the troubled economic times.
In her book “Get Money Now!” Sherry Everett promises to provide the necessary tools to make money quickly.
The 335-page book lists 235 detailed ways to generate money. It includes key people to call, websites, phone numbers and other contact sources to help readers succeed faster, and the best ways to advertise for each specific moneymaker. Each idea has its advantages, disadvantages and skill sets needed for the task, Everett said.
“Get Money Now!” gets straight to the point. The goal of the book, as its title suggests, is to help people get money as quickly as possible, regardless of what the economy is like.
“I don’t include businesses like massage therapy or selling real estate because those jobs take too long to get licensed for,” Everett said. “Besides, people who get laid off don’t usually have the money to receive training for a new job. The things that I list do not cost you an arm and a leg to get started.”
Most of the money-making ideas are accompanied by a low and high range of income entrepreneurs can expect to earn. In some cases, the amount of income depends on how badly the economy has affected the city and state the reader lives in, but many of the money-making ideas are selling products or providing services that others can’t, or don’t want to, live without, Everett said.
More than just business ideas, two chapters in “Get Money Now!” provide phone numbers and websites to contact for financial aid, free items, highly discounted items and other ways to help people save money and make enough money to pay bills and keep the money stream flowing.
“It is chock full of things you can do to save money,” Everett said. “There’s 14 ways to save money on your electricity. There’s 12 ways to save money on your car insurance.”
Everett is a full-time writer, published in both fiction and nonfiction. Her history of creating, buying and selling successful businesses has provided her with a solid foundation to write “Get Money Now!” she believes. Formerly the owner of private schools, child care centers and summer camps for almost 14 years, Everett also has 21 years of technical writing/editing experience with companies such as Compaq Computer Corporation, Brown & Root and Limitorque.
Always eager to share her business insights, she wants to lend her ideas to families that have been decimated by the struggling economy.
“About four years ago, I saw the writing on the wall that we were headed for a recession, and that’s when I started doing my research on this book,” Everett said. “I asked myself, ‘How can I help the people in the country that lost their jobs and lost their houses?’ Everywhere you look, every single family is affected by this.”
Some of the chapters include the following topics: getting started – step-by-step instructions on how to set up a business; marketing and goal-setting – information on the types of marketing that work; ways to stop debt collectors who constantly hound people; and the bonus chapter titled “Keep your Nose Above Water by Layoff-Proofing your Life.”
“If you have a job right now, there are things you can do to not prevent you from being laid off but ensure that you know in advance that it is coming so you can take steps to deal with it,” Everett said. “The only person you can really have faith in is yourself. There’s no job security at all in working for someone else.”
